The Foxes keep heavy tomes of cyanotypes and spore prints cataloging their botanical knowledge; but in the field, they often rely on illustrated textiles which can be knotted into sacks or worn as bandanas.Â
This tea towel features vintage plant motifs from scholarly botanical works. Made of lush organic cotton, it elevates even mundane kitchen tasks; or would make a lovely wall hanging or altar cloth. It s big enough (about 19×28 inches) that it could easily be made into an apron. Or a wall hanging. Or, of course, used for its intended purpose. It was designed in Denmark and produced in England.
More of the story: In our world, during the Middle Ages, delegations of Christian monks and nuns arrived in Denmark. The monks grew well-stocked kitchen gardens as well as medicinal plants to supply the monastery hospitals. This towel includes depictions of a number of important monastic plants that were used — and some that are still used — as medicinal plants.
